How It Works

Extract Pages from a PDF in 3 Steps

1. Upload Your PDF

Click to pick a PDF, drag and drop, or paste from your clipboard. The tool shows the page count. Your file stays on your device.

2. Type the Pages You Want

Enter page numbers or ranges in the box. Example: "1, 3, 5-7" gives you pages 1, 3, 5, 6, and 7. Out-of-range pages are skipped.

3. Download the New PDF

Click "Extract Pages". The tool builds a new PDF with only the pages you picked. Click Download and the new PDF saves to your device.

Use Cases

Pull Just the Pages You Need

Save Only What You Need

Have a 50-page PDF but only need 3 pages? Pull those 3 pages out into a small, easy-to-share PDF.

Share a Section

Send just the relevant pages of a long report or contract. Skip the parts that do not matter to the reader.

Mobile Friendly

Small PDFs are easier to open on phones and tablets. Extract only the pages you want to read on the go.

Print Selection

Pick the exact pages you want to print, save them as a new PDF, and print only those. Save paper, save ink.

Email a Page

Most email services block big attachments. Pull out a few pages and send the small new PDF instead.

Web Upload

FAQ

Common Questions

Is the PDF page extractor free?

Yes. 100% free. No signup, no account, no watermark, no daily limit. Extract one PDF or a hundred — same free price forever.

How does the PDF page extractor work?

The tool loads your PDF inside your browser using the pdf-lib JavaScript library. It reads your page list (like "1, 3, 5-7"), turns it into page indices, copies only those pages from the source PDF into a new PDF using copyPages(), and saves the result. Nothing is sent to a server.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Your PDF never leaves your device. All page extraction happens inside your browser using pdf-lib. There is no upload, no server copy, no tracking. 100% private.

How is this different from the PDF splitter?

The splitter takes one PDF and breaks it into many separate PDF files. This extractor takes one PDF and pulls out only the pages you pick into ONE new PDF. Use the splitter to break a big PDF into smaller files. Use the extractor to keep only the pages you need in a single file.

What page range syntax can I type?

Use commas to separate single pages and dashes for ranges. Example: "1, 3, 5-7" means page 1, page 3, and pages 5, 6, 7. Page numbers start at 1. Whitespace is ignored. Out-of-range pages (like page 99 in a 10-page PDF) are skipped silently.

Do the extracted pages keep their original layout?

Yes. The tool uses pdf-lib copyPages() which copies page objects as-is. Text, fonts, images, links, and layout all carry over to the new PDF exactly as they were in the source. No re-rendering, no quality loss.

Can I extract pages in a different order?

Yes. The new PDF has the pages in the order you type them. For example, "3, 1, 5" produces a PDF with page 3 first, then page 1, then page 5. This is a fast way to reorder pages too. For full reordering with drag-and-drop, use our PDF Page Reorder tool.

Can I extract pages from a password-protected PDF?

No. The tool cannot open or read password-protected PDFs. Remove the password in your PDF reader first, save a copy without a password, and then extract pages from that copy here.
