How does the PDF page reorder tool work?
The tool loads your PDF in your browser using pdf-lib and pdf.js. It shows a thumbnail for every page. You drag the thumbnails into a new order. When you click Reorder Pages, the tool creates a new PDF with pdf-lib, then calls newPdf.copyPages(src, [idx]) for each page in your chosen order and adds them one by one. Nothing is sent to a server.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Your PDF never leaves your device. All reordering happens inside your browser using pdf-lib. There is no upload, no server, no copy of your file saved anywhere. 100% private.
Can I drag and drop the pages on mobile?
Yes, but small screens can make drag-and-drop awkward. For precise control on any device, every page also has up and down arrows. Tap the up arrow to move a page earlier, tap the down arrow to move a page later.
Can I move the same page more than once?
You can rearrange pages freely, but each page from the source PDF can only appear once in the new order. The new PDF has the same number of pages as the original. To duplicate a page, you would need a different tool.
Is the new page order permanent?
Yes. The new page order is saved inside the new PDF file. When you download and open the new PDF in any viewer, the pages appear in the order you chose. Your original PDF is never changed — only the new one you download.
What happens if I leave the order as-is and click Reorder?
The tool still creates a new PDF with the same page order as the original. This is useful as a clean re-save. If you want a reversed order, click the Reverse button first, then click Reorder Pages.
Can I reorder pages from a password-protected PDF?
No. The tool cannot open password-protected PDFs. Remove the password in your PDF reader first, save a copy without a password, then reorder pages from that copy here.
